Front tooth chipped slightly, dentist didn't want to touch it or file it down, what do do?

The dentist polished my teeth so the chip wouldn't feel rough to my tongue, but according to her the chip is so miniscule it's not worth touching. Should I take her advice, or should I go see a cosmetic dentist?
