Is my baby ready for finger foods?

She hasn't really developed a pincer grasp and her gag reflex is pretty strong still- I gave her a strawberry to mush between her gums and a miniscule piece came off and she gagged like crazy. She's a preemie, but she's 10 1/2 months old now, and has kept up with developmental milestones pretty well. Is this another one of those things that's just different for every baby or is this not normal?
