I think Bill Watterson would get a kick out of reading this. There is huge potential for logical fallacies, i.e. you say whatever you want in your thesis right, "Therefore the USA is the only country with a proper education system in place" and then use the predesignated amount of words to prove your point, but you never actually prove it. You simply throw in whatever facts support your claims and leave out whatever doesn't. It's not a reliable source of information because you tailor it however you want. I was a literature student, if you like literature but want to learn to hate it then major in it. You can never enjoy a book or movie again, because the whole time you read or watch it you're taking notes and planning out how you can write an essay that will get you a high mark, usually done by matching the professor's opinion of the author or work and parroting back whatever garbage they spewed about it.

I have to admit, this is still something I am working on but I thought I would share something that sometimes works for me. When you have a lot on your mind, write all of it down. First, just getting it on paper makes it easier to organize your thoughts so you feel less scattered. Plus, once you write it down and acknowledge it, you do not have to think about it until it is time to do something about it. Then, choose those things which you can do something about and write down the steps you will take to resolve those issues. For example, I know that you cannot pay down massive amounts of debt in a week, but you can resolve to make extra payments or brainstorm ways to make a little extra money, or call your creditors and ask for a payment arrangement. And if there are certain things you really just cannot do anything about, you can focus your energy on those which you can control. I hope this helps...

Hypocondriac problems. Help?

I am a terrible hypochondriac, and every now and then i fixate on some illness and stress to myself that I have it. Even though I know beyond logical doubt that not only do I not have it, the chances of getting it are insanely miniscule. Today I'm haunted by the human form of mad cow disease. Is This A Typical Spider Bite?

I live in Nebraska, and about three days ago, I was bitten by a spider, presumably in my sleep. At first, I didn't notice anything, but then later that day, I felt a very slight itching. I glanced and saw a very very faint red spot, and immediately knew it was a bug bite of some kind. No pain, and the itching was very very miniscule. The next day, I noticed the tiny pustule that happens with spider bites so I knew it was a spider that got me. Then later that night, I began to experience swelling. The swelling at first wasn't too bad, and was mostly around the bite site (which is about two inches or so above the ankle). However, as yesterday progressed into today, the swelling extended to other places. Mostly around my ankle and some of my foot, it's swollen like a balloon and hot, hard, and painful to walk on. The swelling is also going up my leg a tad, though not much. There is no white halo associated with recluse bites, and not to mention we don't have very many here in Nebraska anyways. It's just raised and red. I do not feel sick, dizzy, nauseous, etc., besides a bit of fatigue I felt when I first started swelling up, which I do not feel now. I know I see a ton of parson spiders and common house spiders here though. Mostly, it's just a very very swollen, very painful leg.

Help me, what is this?

Well I kind of have a cycle with doing things like this on and off but right now it's really bad and I can't function at all. I feel like everything I do, I have to make a list for. If I am doing an activity I have to think of what other things I could possibly do, how I could do it better, or what ways I can change it, or am I doing it perfectly enough. I make lists in my mind of all the things I need to think about and all the ways i need to change. For example I will look around the room and think is everything in place, and do I need to change the organization of the room, and do I need to clean the room in any way, and do I need to make things neater by like washing them. I'll look through my clothes and think whether I need to clip hanging threads off them or not. I'll look at myself in the mirror and from head to toe about 40 times make lists of what I could change--ways I could make certain things look better, clothes I need to buy, products I need to get, and I make sure if I went through my routine of getting dressed correctly. Not to mention my problem with skin picking, I spend hours picking at miniscule things on my skin which makes my skin all red, and I do it over and over because it's not perfect enough. My mind is constantly running, thinking about if I've thought about everything I should think about, if everything's perfect, if anything needs to change, etc. I can't get myself to do any activity because I have to think about doing it and weighing the alternatives thoroughly and by the time I get done with that I don't have any will to do it. I can't get myself out the door. I sit in my dorm room all day and it drives me crazy because my mind is constantly running about if the room is clean enough and things like that. But I can't get myself out the door because there are so many more alternatives and lists to be made outside the small space of my room. it's killing me and I'm dropping out of college because I can't get to my classes. China is communist politically, but capitalist economically. They are not defeating us economically at all. Their per capita income is far below ours. They do have more billionaires than we do, but that is a potential time bomb, not an advantage. Most of the Chinese cannot afford most of the goods we take for granted, while a select few can buy things most Americans can only dream of. That would in time create social unrest, and in fact it has, but the government is trying to crack down on it. It takes an authoritarian government and a police state to enforce unequal wealth distribution. People who complain about cancer causing industrial pollution and unsafe school construction find themselves in jail, and the victims of the milk powder poisoning remain largely without compensation. Is that better than we have it? I don't think so.

So, it's kind of a complicated and long story but there's this boy let's call him Ryan. Well me and Ryan have never really "been in a relationship" but we've always been close. Financially, how is it better for them to keep jobs here when that have to pay workers at least minimum wage(as they should) and worry about ethical issues with employees? In places like China they can have the work so many hours, pay them whatever, and not have to worry about labor rights. Help! i have blind spots!?

I heard one guy on Fox News claim that we're "Taxing Success"... really? These guys must be genius to find such successful justifications for their own selfishness, flaunting their wealth and establishing monopolies that influence our government. These guys would have much more money than the common man anyways... take, for instance, Eisenhower/Nixon-era tax rates. We're talking 70-90% income tax rates for the richest people in America... they still lived happily while we built vital infrastructure like Schools, Highways, and other modern-day necessities. Then Reagan came along and screwed the lower classes under the guise of the cold war and other flag-waving drivel.... unions were fired, the economy was deregulated, the rich got richer while the poor got poorer. Still, everyone thought of it as a success... today, as a result of deregulation and capitalist greed we're facing a home and banking crisis as well as a debt which could cause rapid inflation, and even stagflation in our future. Bugs appearing in anole lizard habitat?

I might have accidently eaten a little crumb of a marijuana brownie?
